I clicked on the “News” tab on Google to see what was up with the world (I don’t do this often) and a suggested article for me was a “review” of the 2015 Focus ST.
Worst.
Ever.
So, as a Focus ST owner and enthusiast on the Internet, I did what anyone else would do: called this unknown site out on it’s crap and gave them an actual review of the car.
Clearly they didn’t approve of my efforts because it is no longer posted in the comment section (their only comment!). I’m clicking through their other “reviews” and am amazed at what it takes for people to set up websites and publish content.
Somewhere in the world, a handful of people say they run their own website...and have it on their resumes.

Spam their comment sections with a bunch of crap until they get pissed.

I added one to, but I expect it to be removed.

So I kept scrolling down after the "review" expecting to see more. There wasn't any. They didn't actually tell me anything about the car other than it's horsepower and torque. That was horrible.

That is an awful review.

So not only did they not do a review, they also got the price, horsepower, and torque wrong. I thought maybe it was Canadian dollars, but that still doesn’t explain the wrong power numbers.

Those figures are wrong, too! My review corrected them and informed them on the RS (figures don’t even match that!).

I wish I saved my review...I called them out on the wrong specs and price and informed them on the ST and RS. Then I gave an actual review of driving the ST.
I guess it wasn’t appreciated.

And the horsepower and torque was wrong

You, my friend, have tripped over some fake review click bait. These sites don’t even look at the item in question, they merely automatically generate an “article” based on other articles on the Internet. It is also a ranking growing trick for Google as it is spewing out hundreds to thousands of “articles” every day. These are designed to be packed full of buzzwords and based on things people actually search on Google (because it is provided and even categorized).
They generally make their money through ad revenue. Most, to my knowledge, run from SE Asia or Russia.
You get literally tens of thousands of these questionable results, often copying each-other verbatim or with a light automatic or cheap English speaker’s editing, if you trip over a word that was once involved in a trending article. The auto ones are not quite as entrenched as the tech ones, which have been chasing any profits they could find for years, so you’ll get some royally weird results for anything that isn’t mainstream enough for it to get flagged...
Basically, they add patterned noise to the web to make money. They create new (auto-generated and from keywords found in expiring domain lists) domain names constantly with the same content. Eventually, one with a lot of automated activity and a newer (not yet flagged) domain name with a great click bait title will end up high in the results in Google, then you’ll see it.
I have to appreciate the ingenuity shown exploiting ad networks and google’s algorithm to make money. It’s technically illegal, but trying to get rid of them would be a very difficult cat and mouse because they’ll be nearly impossible to pin down for numerous reasons, then even if you were on to them, they just dump a domain and keep on trucking.

both those figures were wrong as well

I half expected you to be salty about a review which trashed the focus st but then I remembered there isn’t a single negative focus st review on the internet, I read every one before I bought mine. this is just grade A awful writing

I am amazed that it was showed up as a top 5 article in the automotive section for Google. Absolutely amazed.
I figured it would be as much as you said, though not as detailed as your thoughts, and it still amazes me.

Haha.
I do get pretty heated at times but nope...just clickbait and terrible reviews, it seems.
The only time I complain about the ST is when I need/want a truck. Otherwise, I’ve actually developed an even greater appreciation of it than I had two years ago.

everytime I think of what I dont like about it I consider my other options and they almost always reinforce I should stick with the ST. yes a gti is better and more comfortable but I don’t want to spend 10 k more for basically the same car. ST ticks all my boxes

lol they took down the comment I made I think I’m going to spam them to entertain myself today

I was a day from buying a WRX but changed my mind. The ST was cheaper than all the options, had a nicer interior than the WRX, looked vicious and just gave much more value than the GTI. And I had a bias against VW.
Out of the dozen vehicles I checked out, it did indeed check the most boxes.

don't even get me started on the wrx.....it really turns me off how expensive they are even used yea they drive so well but everything else is so meh idk why they are so expensive. the st is a much nicer complete package but part of me feels so insecure when wrx drive by

Hmmm...off the top of my head I don’t believe so. I only have a couple people I know in any sort of work and don’t have contact info for either of them. Haven’t seen them in a while (guys I used to climb with).

I looked at a used one but it was in silver and at the top of my budget...so I looked at a new one since pricing was so similar (even though a two year difference) and it was gorgeous.
But it still rang up a couple grand more than the ST and wasn’t as nice. They wouldn’t budge either. To this day I wonder “what if?” but then I just go for a drive and forget all about it.

Best part is they deleted my comment to them letting them know that that was not a review but merely a "hey, here's the figures.". Funniest thing is that those figures aren't even correct as I'm being told. That's friggen hilarious.
